Flag Day

Ain Society have been organising Flag Days since 2005. Flag Days for the voluntary welfare organisations in Singapore is administered by the National Council of Social Services. To be eligible for a Flag Day, the VWO:
-
Must be a NCSS member and a registered charity
-
Accumulated reserves must not exceed 5 times the total operating expenditure
-
Must not be fully funded by the government
-
Must not have any outstanding statement of accounts for past fundraising permits
-
Maintain average gross proceeds of at least $50,000 (gross proceeds collected in a single day) over 3 Flag Days
During the Flag Day, a pool of volunteers helped us collect donations from members of the public using donation tins or bags. This is a much appreciated project by NCSS, as the donations collected help to defray the costs of our programmes, activities and financial assistance for our beneficiaries, who are mostly the low-income families, cancer and chronically-ill patients and their families as well as the youths at risk.
For the latest Flag Day held on 19th February 2011, Ain Society collected $140,335.99, the highest amount raised since 2005.
Congratulations to Punggol Secondary School for being the highest school collector for Ain Society's Flag Day 2011 with more than $12,000 collected during the single Flag Day held on 19th February 2011! Thank you to Mr Leong Kah Hoong for all the assistance!
