Flag Day

Ain Society have been organising Flag Days since 2005. Flag Days for the voluntary welfare organisations in Singapore is administered by the National Council of Social Services. To be eligible for a Flag Day, the VWO:
-
Must be a NCSS member and a registered charity
-
Accumulated reserves must not exceed 5 times the total operating expenditure
-
Must not be fully funded by the government
-
Must not have any outstanding statement of accounts for past fundraising permits
-
Maintain average gross proceeds of at least $50,000 (gross proceeds collected in a single day) over 3 Flag Days
During the Flag Day, a pool of volunteers helped us collect donations from members of the public using donation tins or bags. These includes students from various school around Singapore. This is a much appreciated project by NCSS, as the donations collected help to defray the costs of our programmes, activities and financial assistance for our beneficiaries, who are mostly the low-income families, cancer and chronically-ill patients and their families as well as the youths at risk.
For the latest Flag Day held on 14th April 2012, it was a joint Flag Day with the Disabled People's Association (DPA).Ain Society have raised a total of $39,832.20.
The top 3 students and top school are as follows:
- 1st- Ng Siew Chin, Ivy of S3-8 of Boon Lay Sec Sch who collected $523.80
-2nd- Syafiqah of Sec 3 Cemerlang, Madrasah Al Maarif
-3rd- Faizatun Maisarah Bte Adzlan of Sec 3 Cemerlang, Madrasah Al Maarif.
Top School for this year is Hai Sing Catholic School who have raised $3586.78.
